시편 Psalm 49:6-12

6 자기의 재물을 의지하고 부유함을 자랑하는 자는 7 아무도 자기의 형제를 구원하지 못하며 그를 위한 속전을 하나님께 바치지도 못할 것은 8 그들의 생명을 속량하는 값이 너무 엄청나서 영원히 마련하지 못할 것임이니라 9 그가 영원히 살아서 죽음을 보지 않을 것인가 10 그러나 그는 지혜 있는 자도 죽고 어리석고 무지한 자도 함께 망하며 그들의 재물은 남에게 남겨 두고 떠나는 것을 보게 되리로다 11 그러나 그들의 속 생각에 그들의 집은 영원히 있고 그들의 거처는 대대에 이르리라 하여 그들의 토지를 자기 이름으로 부르도다 12 사람은 존귀하나 장구하지 못함이여 멸망하는 짐승 같도다

6 those who trust in their wealth and boast of their great riches? 7 No man can redeem the life of another or give to God a ransom for him- 8 the ransom for a life is costly, no payment is ever enough- 9 that he should live on forever and not see decay. 10 For all can see that wise men die; the foolish and the senseless alike perish and leave their wealth to others.11 Their tombs will remain their houses forever, their dwellings for endless generations, though they had named lands after themselves.12 But man, despite his riches, does not endure; he is like the beasts that perish.
