이사야 40장 12~17절
12 누가 손바닥으로 바닷물을 헤아렸으며 뼘으로 하늘을 쟀으며 땅의 티끌을 되에 담아 보았으며 접시 저울로 산들을, 막대 저울로 언덕들을 달아 보았으랴
13 누가 여호와의 영을 지도하였으며 그의 모사가 되어 그를 가르쳤으랴
14 그가 누구와 더불어 의논하셨으며 누가 그를 교훈하였으며 그에게 정의의 길로 가르쳤으며 지식을 가르쳤으며 통달의 도를 보여 주었느냐
15 보라 그에게는 열방이 통의 한 방울 물과 같고 저울의 작은 티끌 같으며 섬들은 떠오르는 먼지 같으리니
16 레바논은 땔감에도 부족하겠고 그 짐승들은 번제에도 부족할 것이라
17 그의 앞에는 모든 열방이 아무것도 아니라 그는 그들을 없는 것 같이, 빈 것 같이 여기시느니라
12 Who has measured the waters in the hollow of his hand and marked off the heavens with a span, enclosed the dust of the earth in a measure and weighed the mountains in scales and the hills in a balance?
13 Who has measured the Spirit of the LORD, or what man shows him his counsel?
14 Whom did he consult, and who made him understand? Who taught him the path of justice, and taught him knowledge, and showed him the way of understanding?
15 Behold, the nations are like a drop from a bucket, and are accounted as the dust on the scales; behold, he takes up the coastlands like fine dust.
16 Lebanon would not suffice for fuel, nor are its beasts enough for a burnt offering.
17 All the nations are as nothing before him, they are accounted by him as less than nothing and emptiness.
시편 8편 1~9절
1 [다윗의 시, 인도자를 따라 깃딧에 맞춘 노래] 여호와 우리 주여 주의 이름이 온 땅에 어찌 그리 아름다운지요 주의 영광이 하늘을 덮었나이다
2 주의 대적으로 말미암아 어린 아이들과 젖먹이들의 입으로 권능을 세우심이여 이는 원수들과 보복자들을 잠잠하게 하려 하심이니이다
3 주의 손가락으로 만드신 주의 하늘과 주께서 베풀어 두신 달과 별들을 내가 보오니
4 사람이 무엇이기에 주께서 그를 생각하시며 인자가 무엇이기에 주께서 그를 돌보시나이까
5 그를 하나님보다 조금 못하게 하시고 영화와 존귀로 관을 씌우셨나이다
6 주의 손으로 만드신 것을 다스리게 하시고 만물을 그의 발 아래 두셨으니
7 곧 모든 소와 양과 들짐승이며
8 공중의 새와 바다의 물고기와 바닷길에 다니는 것이니이다
9 여호와 우리 주여 주의 이름이 온 땅에 어찌 그리 아름다운지요
1 To the choirmaster: according to The Gittith. A Psalm of David. O LORD, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth! You have set your glory above the heavens.
2 Out of the mouth of babies and infants, you have established strength because of your foes, to still the enemy and the avenger.
3 When I look at your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars, which you have set in place,
4 what is man that you are mindful of him, and the son of man that you care for him?
5 Yet you have made him a little lower than the heavenly beings and crowned him with glory and honor.
6 You have given him dominion over the works of your hands; you have put all things under his feet,
7 all sheep and oxen, and also the beasts of the field,
8 the birds of the heavens, and the fish of the sea, whatever passes along the paths of the seas.
9 O LORD, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth!
