예레미아 2:11-13
11 어느 나라가 그들의 신들을 신 아닌 것과 바꾼 일이 있느냐 그러나 나의 백성은 그의 영광을 무익한 것과 바꾸었도다
12 너 하늘아 이 일로 말미암아 놀랄지어다 심히 떨지어다 두려워할지어다 여호와의 말씀이니라
13 내 백성이 두 가지 악을 행하였나니 곧 그들이 생수의 근원되는 나를 버린 것과 스스로 웅덩이를 판 것인데 그것은 그 물을 가두지 못할 터진 웅덩이들이니라
11 Has a nation ever changed its gods? (Yet they are not gods at all.) But my people have exchanged their Glory for worthless idols.
12 Be appalled at this, O heavens, and shudder with great horror,' declares the LORD.
13 'My people have committed two sins: They have forsaken me, the spring of living water, and have dug their own cisterns, broken cisterns that cannot hold water.
이사야 8:11-15
11 여호와께서 강한 손으로 내게 알려 주시며 이 백성의 길로 가지 말 것을 내게 깨우쳐 이르시되
12 이 백성이 반역자가 있다고 말하여도 너희는 그 모든 말을 따라 반역자가 있다고 하지 말며 그들이 두려워하는 것을 너희는 두려워하지 말며 놀라지 말고
13 만군의 여호와 그를 너희가 거룩하다 하고 그를 너희가 두려워하며 무서워할 자로 삼으라
14 그가 성소가 되시리라 그러나 이스라엘의 두 집에는 걸림돌과 걸려 넘어지는 반석이 되실 것이며 예루살렘 주민에게는 함정과 올무가 되시리니
15 많은 사람들이 그로 말미암아 걸려 넘어질 것이며 부러질 것이며 덫에 걸려 잡힐 것이니라
11 The LORD spoke to me with his strong hand upon me, warning me not to follow the way of this people. He said:
12 'Do not call conspiracy everything that these people call conspiracy; do not fear what they fear, and do not dread it.
13 The LORD Almighty is the one you are to regard as holy, he is the one you are to fear, he is the one you are to dread,
14 and he will be a sanctuary; but for both houses of Israel he will be a stone that causes men to stumble and a rock that makes them fall. And for the people of Jerusalem he will be a trap and a snare.
15 Many of them will stumble; they will fall and be broken, they will be snared and captured.'
로마서 9:29-33
29 또한 이사야가 미리 말한 바 만일 만군의 주께서 우리에게 씨를 남겨 두지 아니하셨더라면 우리가 소돔과 같이 되고 고모라와 같았으리로다 함과 같으니라
30 그런즉 우리가 무슨 말을 하리요 의를 따르지 아니한 이방인들이 의를 얻었으니 곧 믿음에서 난 의요
31 의의 법을 따라간 이스라엘은 율법에 이르지 못하였으니
32 어찌 그러하냐 이는 그들이 믿음을 의지하지 않고 행위를 의지함이라 부딪칠 돌에 부딪쳤느니라
33 기록된 바 보라 내가 걸림돌과 거치는 바위를 시온에 두노니 그를 믿는 자는 부끄러움을 당하지 아니하리라 함과 같으니라
29 It is just as Isaiah said previously: 'Unless the Lord Almighty had left us descendants, we would have become like Sodom, we would have been like Gomorrah.'
30 What then shall we say? That the Gentiles, who did not pursue righteousness, have obtained it, a righteousness that is by faith;
31 but Israel, who pursued a law of righteousness, has not attained it.
32 Why not? Because they pursued it not by faith but as if it were by works. They stumbled over the 'stumbling stone.'
33 As it is written: 'See, I lay in Zion a stone that causes men to stumble and a rock that makes them fall, and the one who trusts in him will never be put to shame.'
